Motorized vehicles are prohibited, which helps maintain the beauty of the island. The people get around by bike, horse back, or horse and buggy. There are many hiking trails, which can be walked, biked, or explored by horse back.
There are many festivals that draw people to visit all summer long. The biggest attraction is Mackinac Island State Park. It is American's second National Park - established three years after Yellowstone – Mackinac Island State Park consists of over 80% of the Island’s entire land mass and is open year round, free of charge.
